“Roaring Success” would be the term to describe Naturopathic Medicine Week for the naturopathic team here at True Potential.
Dr. Fleury, Dr. Velichka and Dr. Whelan welcomed in the week with a presentation to around 120 people at McNally Robinson titled “Eat, Move and Laugh – Steps to Manage Stress, Anxiety and Depression Naturally”.
On Tuesday morning Dr. Fleury appeared on “CTV Morning Live” to talk with Jeremy Dodge about seasonal allergies and the naturopathic approach to dealing with both seasonal and food allergies.
It was also fun to hear Mike Cioni talk about his experience with the IgG food sensitivity panel that Dr. Velichka and myself ran on him last year at this time, where we helped determine that he had a sensitivity to certain dairy products that he was consuming daily. He spoke about making changes based on his testing and referred to the fact that he was doing better after making these changes!
On Wednesday Dr. Velichka appeared with Dr. Alana Barmby on Rawlco Radio’s CKOM Talk to the Expert to discuss Naturopathic Medicine Week and our provincial association the SANP.
We also had a booth at a conference being held here in Saskatoon at the Radission hotel titled “All Ages, All Stages: Transitions in the Continuum of Hospice Palliative Care”. Doctors from our clinic as well as Dr. Megan Parker, ND from Humboldt took turns representing our association at the conference. Organizers of this conference had invited us to attend, stating that “Naturopathic medicine is well respected within the health care system especially in respect to Hospice and Palliative care”.
The SANP received proclamations of Naturopathic Medicine Week from the mayors of Regina, Prince Albert, Saskatoon and North Battlefield. We were also featured in a two page spread in the Bridges Newspaper in Saskatoon, and the sister newspaper in Regina.
Dr. Marcoux and Dr. Whelan rounded out the week by appearing at the Saskatoon Farmers Market on Saturday where they offered complimentary Bowen treatments and BioImpedance Analyses to showcase only a fraction of the many tools and modalities that Naturopathic Doctors have to offer patients.
All in all, it was a very vibrant, fun and interactive week of being in the community, helping to spread the word on who we are at what we do! If you missed out on our interviews or talks and would like us to come to your group to present on these topics or another topic of interest to you, please contact us at True Potential Health and we would be happy to accommodate your request.
