Bullet Proof Coffee
Alright, so if anyone here is familiar with a bullet-proof coffee, then you know how delicious and nourishing a coffee can truly be. For those here that don’t know what a bulletproof coffee is, imagine a coffee with frothed butter and coconut oil in it (it’s actually a refined fractionated coconut oil that doesn’t taste anything like coconut, but I digress). Now imagine a bullet-proof mocha. Yum.
Brocco-Choco
So a few weeks ago we received an order of Broccogen’s Brocco-Choco, which is actually sulphoraphane-rich chocolate. Sulphorapahne is a compound in broccoli that has been shown to have anti-cancer, anti-aging, and anti-oxidant effects. 1 lb of broccoli sprouts has 10-20 lbs of broccoli’s worth of sulphoraphane. One Broco-choco bar has 2-4 lbs of broccoli spouts worth of sulphoraphane! That’s like eating 20-80 lbs of broccoli in one delicious bar!
Bullet Proof Broccoli-Power
I’ve discovered that adding a square or two of brocco-choco (which is flavored with sea salt) into my bullet-proof coffee turns it into a delicious decadent salted mocha. At the same time I’m getting a load of sulphoraphane, caprylic acid (antifungal), and butyric acid (immune boosting and weight-loss aiding). If you think I’m really trying to make this thing sound good, I am. These things are great in theory, but nothing is a magic bullet. That being said, I’d honestly I’d take this cup of coffee over a relatively nutrient-empty double-double any day! Health is all about the sustainable small changes.
Recipe
- 1 Cup of your favourite coffee!
- 1-2 Tbsp of Brain Octane Oil
- 1 Tbsp of Grass Fed Cow’s Butter (I do this optionally)
- 1 good sized square of Brocco-Choco (~1/10th to 1/8th of the bar)
Toss those ingredients into a blender and mix on low-medium speed for about 10-15 seconds (enough to froth and for the chocolate to melt). Pour into your favourite comfy mug and enjoy 60 lbs of broccoli!
