This recipe for all natural sausage patties makes 12 patties. And is part of Dr Michelle Marcoux’s series What My Kids Eat – healthy recipes and meal planning from a naturopathic doctor mom!

Ingredients

1 lb ground pork*

1 tsp sea salt or herbamare

¾ tsp pepper

1 tsp dried sage leaves (or ½ tsp powdered sage)

½ tsp thyme

¼ tsp rosemary

¼ tsp ground nutmeg

*I recommend grass fed, pastured meat if you can swing it, especially if you are eating red meats like beef and pork.  Grass fed, pastured animals are eating their intended diet and living a low stress, roaming life in the way that nature intended.  This increases nutrient content, decreases the inflammatory burden that their meat places on one’s body, AND supports local farmers.  In most cases it’s near equivalent to organic but without the certification, and hence the cost.  I buy all of my meat from Cool Springs Ranch at www.coolspringsranch.ca. -Doctor Michelle Marcoux, ND

Instructions

Put all ingredients into a bowl and mix with your hands until spices are uniformly distributed through the meat.  Form into 2 inch wide patties and cook in a skillet over medium heat until browned on each side and cooked through (ie: when middle is no longer pink).
